Philadelphia STEM Equity Week 2025
We would like to thank everyone for their contribution to and participation in PSEC's 3rd Annual Philadelphia STEM Equity Week. We are grateful to the esteemed Mayor Cherelle Parker for providing a Mayoral Proclamation and naming the week of October 25 to November 1, 2025 as "Philadelphia STEM Equity Week".
From our event hosts below and dedicated volunteers, to all who participated in STEM Equity Week activities, we thank you. This week would not have been possible without your support and engagement!
As a cornerstone of STEM Equity Week, PSEC's STEMposium event centered on the theme: Building Sustainable, Transformative Economic Mobility Pathways. Keynote speaker, Crystal Cubbage, kicked things off with a call to action for policymakers, industry leaders, youth-serving organizations, communities, and families to find the collective strength to build robust structures and programs that nurture the development of students' STEM identities. Building on this powerful message, a dynamic panel discussion brought together diverse voices to reflect on Philly's collective strengths, envision bold solutions, and spark new ideas for advancing economic mobility through workforce development in and around the city.

On the first weekend of STEM Equity Week, our host sites presented a variety of activities: PRISE Annual STEM Educator Conference, eCLOSE's Institute #Class2Lab Workshop: Teacher PD, Science History Institute's Stories of Science: Spooky Science and Feasting on Chemistry; Launchpad's Build a PC; Riverbend's Fall Adopt-a-Tree Planting; Brooklyn Robot Foundry's Robot Builder Experience; and DVINITI's Skin Care Make-Take.
The week then went on with Math Night @ Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy; our own David Garbe, Director of the McKinney Center for STEM Education in conjunction with the School District of Philadelphia's Parent & Family University's DNA Detectives; Jumpstart Philly CS for All's Artificial Intelligence Professional Development Workshop, the SHPE's National Convention gathered at the Philly Convention Center, Learn Fresh had a Sixers Math Hoops Training Camp; Diamond Beauty Academy presented STEM to Skin: Equity in Innovation 2025; Providence Center's had STEM Equity Week: Halloween Edition; Coded by: had a Tech Career Talk and Coded by: Info Session; the WINS Program presented their 5th annual WINS Intern Poster Presentations and Panel Discussion; the Wagner Free Institute of Science of Philadelphia tried to scare us with Spooky Creature Feature: Bat!; and The Swarthmore College Chapter of Engineers Without Borders hosted its premier public outreach event!
